Protect Your Right to Make a Home
NEW: See the Wordpress blog renterharassment.wordpress.com for the account of a Seattle tenant who has been unable to get help despite continuing appeals over the course of the more than a year with a "mobbing" style harassment situation that includes round-the-clock monitoring and harassment, including what she believes is wireless cable/TV and cell hacking and stalking. She links it to problems in the neighborhood and rampant development and speculation. (Note: the first few posts will remain on this site for a transitional period. Updates on Wordpress only.)
WANTED: Information leading to the arrest of a ring of real estate "mobbers" currently working in northeast Seattle to harass residents out of their homes for profit or the neighborhood associations or real estate agents and developers who hire them. Possible reward for proof or information that triggers arrest.

Renter harassment is the harassment of
those who hold lease or rental agreements by those in their
neighborhoods who are not party to those agreements. Renter harassment is motivated by your status as a renter. When renters are harassed by neighbors, the treatment is often related to home owner insecurity, economic and otherwise, and based on false beliefs about property values.

Harassment
is an expression of POWER |
Typically landlords harass tenants as a means to encourage them to leave a dwelling so that rents can be raised. When renters are harassed, however, it is often because they have been singled out as easy targets with insecure homesteads and diminished financial power.

HAVE YOU BEEN "CLEARED"? RenterHarassment.com wants to know if you've been a target of forced eviction by "mobbing" style tactics including deprivation of privacy, eavesdropping, monitoring, threats and blackmail. We're creating a "Tenant Clearing" page to document where it occurs, the methods used in the attempted eviction, and those who hole up in dwellings next to you in an attempt to turn over the property for which you have a legal contract. We think there is a likely pattern in methods and identity that will promote the investigation and arrest of those involved in this specialty. Ever met the "Mobbing Queen"? Tell us about it.
COMING SOON: Tricks of the Trade. How, in the style of good old-fashioned blockbusting, real estate mobbers use the physiology of hearing against you. How sleeping on your side with your ear to the pillow gives harassment an easy path, how one earplug might be better than two, and the strategy of selecting, or even altering, harassing voices for the age groups that can best hear them. If you have good knowledge of the physiology of human hearing, your contribution is welcome in explaining the why of the practice.
